Zipped, part 2

Today I’m going to show you how I use my shortened zipper to make a small bag.  For this tutorial, I’m using a small bag pattern I’ve drafted myself that I often use to sew little treat bags for my little nieces and nephews.  You can use this method with whatever bag/pouch/clutch pattern you want.

I get asked a lot about how I shorten my zippers, or how I add my zipper ends.  I use this technique on just about every little bag I’ve made!  I thought I’d take some time this morning while I was making up a little gift to show you, step-by-step, how it’s done! You’ll need:

Slip and Slide

I bought a couple slipper patterns over the last few weeks from SewingWithMe5, one of which are these Candice slippers.  They seemed like the easiest to tackle so I went with trying them out, first! I used some of Spoonflower’s new lightweight cotton twill, which I love, and then lined them in some teal fleece.

When Spoonflower recently released their new Light Cotton Twill fabric I knew it would be a great choice for a tote bag, so I headed over to Sprout and designed one! I ordered it, along with two matching FQ’s of Kona Cotton and put this set together. Using the twill, there is enough left over

Tote – Ally Awesome
