Looking back at 2017 I am amazed at how far I’ve come. I had to close down my apothecary business it had grown into an incredibly successful venture… one that my current postal/insurance/housing situation couldn’t sustain. Simply put? I wasn’t prepared for how big it got so fast.
I as left with a real void. I went from being busy 10 hours a day to. Zip. Zilch. Blah.
I’d been sewing a little, on and off. But it wasn’t until I had ALL that time on my hands that I realized I needed to do SOMETHING productive or go bonkers!
I realized quickly that garment sewing wasn’t my thing. I made a bunch of shorts and pants and cardigans. But eh. It wasn’t until I was looking on Etsy for something… I can’t even remember what now, that I ran across a handmade bag ‘inspired’ by Desigual. Well, if you know me, you know I get a new Desigual bag about once a month… so. Wow, this lady MADE that bag? I was in love and instantly that ‘maker mentality’ kicked in, saying… I can make this myself.
And now I do!
In 2018 my official studio store, SewGratitude Designs, will launch.
It will feature bright whimsical and boheme wallets and accessories along with custom design and special order opportunities. Occasionally I will take open orders to make full sized bags, but I plan to focus on what I love most, quirky little projects.
It’s going to take a little bit more work and some major maneuvering, but I can’t wait to launch my webshop and share it with you!
